Looking for NCT Classes in Bath?
Meet another option for antenatal classes in Bath.
If you're expecting a baby in Bath, chances are NCT has already come up in your search for antenatal classes. But it's not your only option.
Mindful Bump offers a smaller, independent alternative: antenatal education led by a practising midwife, combining evidence-based birth preparation with practical newborn care, feeding, postnatal preparation and specialist sessions - all with a strong focus on continuity and connection.
So, what's the difference - and which course might be right for you?
NCT or Mindful Bump - how do you choose?
There's no single "best" antenatal course. The right one is the one that gives you the information, preparation and support that matters most to you.
NCT is a well-established national charity that has supported millions of parents. Mindful Bump is a small, independent antenatal course created and led by Eleanor, a practising midwife and mum, here in Bath.
Both prepare you for birth and early parenthood, and both give you the opportunity to meet other local parents.
The differences are in who teaches you, the size and style of the experience, what's included and the kind of continuity and support around your course.
Here's how they compare.
So, what makes Mindful Bump different?
Led by a practising midwife
Your Mindful Bump course is led by Eleanor, an experienced practising midwife with experience across all areas of maternity care - from antenatal and postnatal care to labour wards, birth centres, obstetric theatres and homebirth.
That means the information you learn is grounded in evidence and national guidance, but also in the reality of supporting families through pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.
And because I'm still practising, those conversations are informed by what maternity care actually looks like now.
The midwife perspective - and the mum perspective
I'm also a new mum myself.
Becoming a mother gave me a whole new perspective on the transition I'd spent years supporting other families through. Because knowing the theory and actually living the 3 am feeds, newborn sleep, postnatal recovery and enormous adjustment into parenthood are two very different things.
Mindful Bump brings both perspectives together: professional expertise and real-life experience.
Continuity that feels personal
One of the things I've valued most throughout my midwifery career is continuity - and I've brought that philosophy into Mindful Bump.
You'll have contact with me before your course begins. I'll be the familiar face throughout your course, get to know you and your birth partner, and be there to answer your questions along the way.
And that connection doesn't have to disappear after your final class.
From your cohort WhatsApp group and Breastfeeding Café to optional personal postnatal support, Mindful Bump is designed to feel like more than simply attending a course.
Preparing you for the baby - not just the birth
Birth is a big part of becoming a parent, but it's only the beginning.
Mindful Bump gives meaningful time to what happens afterwards too: physical and emotional recovery, feeding, newborn care, crying, safe sleep, relationships, matrescence and the transition into parenthood.
The aim isn't to prepare you for one perfect version of birth.
It's to help you feel prepared for yours - however it unfolds - and for everything that comes afterwards.
Practical skills are part of the course
I want you to leave feeling able to do things, not just knowing more about them.
That's why your £199 course includes a dedicated practical Baby & Toddler First Aid session with Daisy First Aid and a specialist Pelvic Health session with a pelvic health physiotherapist.
Alongside these, we'll practise birth coping techniques, newborn care, feeding preparation and the everyday skills that can make bringing your baby home feel much less daunting.
Come for the course. Find your village.
Your group is intentionally small and made up of local parents expecting their babies around a similar time.
You'll have your own private WhatsApp group and a dedicated course social, giving you the opportunity to get to know each other properly and allowing those friendships to continue long after the classes finish.
And yes - there'll be plenty of tea, coffee and homemade baked goods along the way.
